This new generation of vocational qualification offers an exciting, inspiring and challenging qualification create to develop transferable skills that are essential in the work place of for further study. The course has been accredited and will gain UCAS points.

Spreadsheet Modelling
Learn how to create complex spreadsheets and use it to present information to solve problems.

A Level Computer Science

This course introduces students to the world of Computer Science where they will explorer the inner workings of the machine and the principles on which all modern computers are designed. This course is the ideal choice for students considering a career in the IT sector or further study at degree level.

Computer Fundamentals
Discover the world of computer science with an introduction to computing first principles. Learn how commercial software is designed, implemented and maintained.

Programming Techniques & Logical Methods
Discovery computer programming using contemporary programming languages and good programming practice. Learn how to write, debug and optimise code solutions

 

Advanced Computing Theory
Building on the knowledge of the first year's studies, learn about operating systems, how data is manipulated within the machine using high level languages and databases.

Computer Project
Working closely with local business analyse real world problems, design, create and implement solutions using industry methods and practices.

 

 

Key Stage 4 ICT

L2 Cambridge Nationals in ICT (New for year 10 in 2012) Click here for the exam board syllabus. This qualification offers an engaging, practical and inspiringapproach tolearning and assessment. With two compulsory units covering computers systems and business skills this qualification fully implements the wolf review to provide an industry relevant course that suits a broad range of learning styles.

 

Core ICT

Students will complete the 1st two compulsory units to gain a short course qualification.

Computer Systems
This unit gives students a solid base to develop knowledge and understanding of computer systems and the implications of working with data to enable them to use computers effectively and safely. Assessed by an exam. (Compulsory)

ICT Skills
Students will refine the existing knowledge of computers to reflect the working practices of the commercial world. This includes using a wide range of software efficiently. (Compulsory)

Options ICT
Students will build a portfolio to be accredited for either 1 or 2 GCSE equivalents.

 

Create an interactive product
Develop and demonstrate creative flair by combining multimedia components to build a working website.

Dynamic products using sound and vision
Develop expertise in music, video or animation to create a product to convey their message.

Data handling with spreadsheets
Creation , manipulation and presentation of data into meaningful information using advanced spreadsheet features.

Data handling with databases
Understanding how data can support problem-solving using a relational database.
