I am the Chair of Governors and have been a Parent Governor since January 2014. I am also a member and the Link Governor for English/Literacy. I am currently on the Teaching and Learning Committee.
My secondary education was spent at The Woodroffe school which at the time was also a boarding school. My father was in the Army and my parents felt it would be beneficial for me to have some stability during my secondary education. I enjoyed my time at school greatly and look back with fondness. After school I went on to train as a nursery nurse and I am currently working as a teaching assistant in a local primary school working with 3-5 year olds. I feel because of this I have some understanding of the pressure of OFSTED and the constant drive for improvement in our school environments.
My husband and I have 4 children who have all been to Honiton Community College. Our 2 boys have both been through university and are now working. Our oldest daughter is working as an administrator in a school in Bristol and our youngest daughter is currently in year 10 at HCC.
I feel my role as a governor is to ask the right questions and to ensure that the Executive Leadership Team and staff ensure every child is reaching his/her potential. I hope to be part of a team who consistently expect high attainment for everyone, whatever their level, likes and interests. Also to ensure good exam results are achieved and that there is a happy and enjoyable college environment for staff and pupils alike, to work within.
