SIXTH FORM RESULTS 2017

PRESS RELEASE

SIXTH FORM RESULTS: AUGUST 17th 2017

On behalf of staff and governors I am absolutely delighted to inform our community that the sixth form results this year have broken all previous records!

Our students achieved a 100% A*-E pass rate with 50% achieving A*-B grades.

Top performers include:

Todd Beanlands: (AABB) - off to read History at Exeter University

Gabriel Parker-Gifford: (AAB) – off to read Mathematics at Cardiff University

Carys Lilley: (ABC) – off to read Applied Sports Science at Edinburgh University

Rachel Larcombe: (BBC) – off to read Sports and Exercise Science at Swansea University

Oliver Gorman (Distinction*Distinction*BC) – Employment in Business Management with Brent Hotels

Selena Burroughs, Head of Sixth, stated: “The results achieved both in A levels and the Applied BTEC’s are a true testimony to the hard work, commitment and focus that the students have given to their studies over the last 2 years. We are immensely proud. It’s an exciting time for them in their next step in education with many going to University or starting their professional apprenticeships with one of our students volunteering abroad in Nepal. We wish them every success for their future and thank all the students for being part of our amazing sixth form community.”

What is strikingly obvious about our sixth form is the atmosphere. A blend of hard work and dedication from students and staff combined with the fun, excitement and reward from participating in the many extra-curricular, fund-raising and work experience opportunities on offer.

There are many advantages to a school sixth form, especially one that is not large and impersonal. We not only offer first rate teaching across the school, including post-16 subjects, but we also provide a personalised service because we know each student extremely well (you’re basically getting the same package, in this sense, as you would from a fee-paying school). So, if you are expecting GCSE results next week and have already signed up for our sixth form in September then, obviously, you’ve made a great choice but if you are still deliberating, then these fantastic results should help you make the right one!
